MakeMeChange was created as a result of the personal experiences of our founder, Avnish Gulati. As the Geo-Business Head of one of the largest IT companies, Avnish was required to hire the right talent. Despite having access to a dedicated pool of internal recruiters, external search consultants, and prevalent job portal websites, Avnish faced several challenges trying to find the right employees.
The inability to find employees caused tremendous frustration and loss of productivity and business. Avnish came across several unsuitable candidates who all had one thing in common: they were unhappy with their current job situations and actively seeking job changes. Only after he made personal calls, Avnish was able to reach out to a couple fitting candidates. He was surprised to see that these already happily employed candidates were open to discussing new job opportunities. Their only prerequisite was that their compensation and job role be shared with them in advance, so they could decide if it was exciting enough to pursue further. Although calling his contacts turned out to be partially effective, it was an extremely slow and uncertain process for hiring candidates.
Avnish dreamt of leveraging the internet speed and scale to create a platform where the happily employed, with assured anonymity, would be able to post an offer that would excite them enough to change their jobs. A platform where employers would get access not only to the happily employed talent but also to what salary and job offer will make them change jobs; drastically cutting short their search cycle from months to days and tremendously boosting productivity.
Avnish discussed the idea with his finance friend Francis, his HR friend Vibha, and his IITian tech friend Sanjeev, and voilà… MakeMeChange, the anonymous market place for the happily employed, was born!
